Our team of 11 brings over 150 years of collective experience in Medical Affairs and scientific communications. Operating fully remotely, we’ve built a progressive, low-impact model that supports our people, their families, and the planet—while giving us the flexibility and focus to respond to our clients’ needs with agility and care.

The Salve was founded on a simple belief: that medical communications can and should do better

Working in the Med Comms industry for over 20 years prior to setting up The Salve, cofounders Dr Elena Mills and Liz Southey spotted key gaps in pharma communications across areas such as health equity, climate and health and strategic planning, as well as in the way industry itself showed up for its people, patients and the planet.

Too often, excellent work was being delivered in ways that prioritised speed over thoughtfulness, or output over impact. Too often, talented individuals were not fully recognised or supported. And too often, the potential of medical communications to drive genuine, positive change was left unrealised.

The Salve was created as a response to that.

From the beginning, we set out to build an agency that balances scientific rigour with humanity. One that partners closely with clients, challenges where it matters, and brings clarity to complexity without losing sight of the people behind the data.

Becoming a certified B Corporation was a natural extension of that vision. It formalised our commitment to using business as a force for good, holding ourselves accountable not just for the quality of our work, but for how we work, who we support, and the impact we create.
Today, The Salve is more than an agency. It is a platform for doing things differently: championing better ways of working within medical communications, supporting women and minority groups in the industry and within the patient community, and contributing to wider conversations around health equity and access.

Because for us, great medical communications is not just about delivering information. It is about making a meaningful difference.
